Leading The Bridge Construction Segment through Advanced Technological Methods
ULTRA has designed bridges not only for their function but also for their aesthetical impact on cityscapes. As a result of constant investment in research and development, ULTRA was able to construct Korea's first concrete suspension bridge, the Olympic Grand Bridge, the symbol of the '88 Seoul Olympic Games. ULTRA has also completed a number of special bridges in Korea proving the creativity and superior skills. Ultra showed its unique capabilities by completing the Palgi Grand Bridge, which needed delicate engineering skill to overcome the rapid water flow of 2~3 meters per second. Such construction feats have highlighted ULTRA as a pioneer in bridge engineering. ULTRA takes pride in being the leading company in bridge design, advanced technologies such as FCM(Free Cantilever Method), ILM (Incremental Launching Method), and MSS(Movable Scaffolding System).

A Front-runner in Tunnel Construction with the Tunnel Boring Machine
In mountainous Korean peninsula, ULTRA well understood the demand for different methods in tunnel construction. Ultra came up with the solution in pioneering TBM(Tunnel Boring Machine) technology. As an expert in this technology, we have attracted a stream of visitors from other continents for observation and consultations. The new TBM method of tunnel construction reduces construction time and saves cost of construction by 10~20%. It produces almost no vibration and requires no blasting, thus avoiding problems associated with other tunneling methods. Laser guidance holds boring error to less than a centimeter. ULTRA currently owns 13 TBMs, more than any other construction company in Korea. ULTRA has excavated the counter-tunnel which intercepted the North Korean No.4 tunnel under the DMZ(Demilitarized Zone), downtown subway tunnel, underground storage for subway tunnels, underground storage for crude oil, underground dumps for nuclear waste, and the like.
